Illuminati Motorcycles is like any motorcycle dudes dream spot to hang out. My friend Ashley was looking to buy a bike, so we walked in and immediately the guy hanging on the other side of a Snap-on toolbox, without looking up, yells “Hey, do you know how the f&ck to upload photos to facebook?” One hand holding a Parliament cigarette, the other hand using the hunt-and-kill method typing on the keyboard, I meet the smooth-talking Texan Barron Gunter, the owner of Illuminati, in Silver Lake, just off Sunset Blvd. The yard of the shop is stuffed to the tits with wicked old jap bikes. The shop itself has the perfect combo of tools, tanks hanging from the ceiling, old licence plates from across the country on the walls, cigarette butts on the floor. Barron and I shot the shit about my upcoming ride back to Canada, the big stupid custom choppers that seem to rule the scene down there, and the amazing cb450 Black Bomber he is restoring. If you are into old bikes and happen to be in LA, stop by Illuminati and take a look, it’s rad.

Pure Inspiration.

I don’t normally do panoramas, but seeing this view instantly made me think it was worthwhile. The air up here is so fresh it hurts, and the quietness and calmness makes it the perfect place to spend part of February, especially considering it’s about 12 degrees most of the time. We had a fire by the lake last night, and I thought to myself, when was the last time I had a camp fire in early February with a view like this? It’s been epic.

My pal Tristan Casey threw his 2nd annual “Make New Friends” Christmas Party on Saturday night. What an better of a way to meet up with friends, new and old, than to have an open bar of alcohol, delicious food being served up by one of my best buddies Simon Tysnicki, music put on by good friend Andrew Simpson, pack a tiny Gastown apartment with people, and let the night take its course. As always, (well, for the 2nd straight time) it was a party to remember.

An little girl on the streets of Huancayo, Peru. I think above all else, the people of Peru are it’s one greatest asset. We met so many warm & welcoming Peruvians on our trip, especially Lizet & family in Lima (Shout out!!!). If you are considering a trip, don’t hesitate, you won’t regret it.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. 2 nights and 3 days of amazingness, with a guide/driver who was drunk/hungover for about 50% of the time. Now in Buenos Aires, my future involves a polo match, a soccer game, and some tango. Ciao!

Operation Smile in Lima.

Operation Smile (the charity which every team on the Moto Taxi Junket is raising money for), had a mission in Lima during our time there so we went to check it out. These kids are some of the ones who benefit from people´s donations and having seen the families who come, and met the volunteers and staff that make it all possible, it was really a heart-warming time in Lima. It´s midnight in Huancayo, Peru and I have had a hell of time getting this computer to work so I am signing off until tomorrow with another update on our pending mototaxi junket from Huancayo to Paraguay via Bolivia and Argentina.
